GP shared care isn’t formally available in homebirth in most situations.
Your homebirth midwife coordinates your pregnancy care. But your midwife and GP are still important partners in your overall medical and pregnancy care.
At your first GP appointment, your GP will arrange tests, check your health and ask you about any previous pregnancies and your medical history.
Finding a GP you feel comfortable with means that you can get to know each other and talk openly. A GP who knows you can help you make good choices about your care.
